- In Lecture 12 you mastered estilo indireto. Today we add mais-que-perfeito and combine all past tenses — the toolkit for stories that sound truly Brazilian.
Tip: Listen for já tinha in any Brazilian anecdote. It marks “before that happened.”

At A2 you learned imperfeito (background) + perfeito (events). At B1 you add:

The mais-que-perfeito cluster is longer — don’t rush it:

São Paulo speech
In very fast speech, tinha can sound like “tinha” almost attached to the next word. Practice clarity for exams; relax in casual talk.
